The Worship Pastor reports to the Lead Pastor and is responsible for providing creative and edifying leadership to the worship and spiritual formation ministries of Dutch Cove Missionary Baptist Church in the fulfillment of her mission and vision.
Mission & Vision
Dutch Cove exists to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ by making disciples who multiply the church in our generation.
Connecting - Growing - Serving - Going
The responsibilities of the Worship Pastor are focused on making disciples who are motivated to proclaim the gospel, to cherish God’s presence, and to live for God’s glory. His responsibilities fall into three strategic categories that are as indivisible as they are distinct: leading worship, advancing spiritual formation, and developing leaders. The Worship Pastor is a leader who can communicate a direction in a way that inspires those around him to join in the pursuit of the mission, vision, and values of Dutch Cove Missionary Baptist Church. Like the Lead Pastor, he is not responsible for doing all the work of ministry, but for leading by example, equipping the saints, building teams, and seeing that everything is done with excellence for the glory of God.
The Worship Pastor will faithfully magnify the greatness of God in Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit by skillfully and creatively leading the gathered church to worship Jesus in Spirit and in Truth through the creative arts. As the Lead Pastor is the “director” of worship services, special programs, and events in terms of setting the vision, theme, and overall direction, the Worship Pastor will be the “producer” of each of these by overseeing and coordinating all the details that a service encompasses, including, but not limited to, music, audio, video, lighting, and other creative elements.
This position is also a pastoral one with an emphasis on spiritual formation and leadership development. Therefore, the Worship Pastor will not serve solely as a musician or performing arts director but also as a pastor to the people in his areas of ministry responsibility. His role in spiritual formation and leadership development is multifaceted and includes, but is not limited to, assisting the Lead Pastor with sermon series planning and production, pastoral care, internal and external promotion of ministry initiatives, coordination of serving teams, leadership identification and development, missions coordination, and disciple-making through specific ministries and/or small groups.
The ideal candidate will have deep, personal devotion to Jesus as his Savior and King, lead his family to the same, exhibit excellent musicianship and voice skills and posses a degree in music or equivalent ministry experience.
